Saturday night was part house party part bar hopping. Lots of interesting costumes.
I didn't take as many pictures of people but I did get a few of myself ;D
My costumes were thrown together at the last minute. (I am newly single so the costume ideas previously discussed were all thrown out the window)
I dressed up as Minnie Mouse
I used a lil figurine I have as a reference, peachy tan shoes and all

Elyse was Lucy Ricardo!
I made friends with a friendly caveman and a Chilean miner but I can't find the napkin I wrote their e-mail addys on. Oh well!
Tonight was laid back. We watched Machete, From Dusk Till Dawn, and American Werewolf in London

Hope you all had a safe and memorable Halloween this year!

i worship SCIENCE

Yesterday I was lucky enough to have free time to lay out and watch the sunset from my back yard. WHAT A SIGHT.
The sky was gorgeous. All kinds of diffenrent hues of blue, orange, pink, purple, and grey. The sky mesmerised me so much, always has. I love watching the sun come up and go down. On the rare occasion that I find myself out of the city at night & out in the open where the sky is clear, I get taken aback by the beauty. So vast, so uncontainable. I could literally spend an entire night starring up at the stars. Space in general fascinates me though & I could go on and on all night about my love for nebulas, shooting stars, meteor showers an the like...
During the day, if the weather permits, I love to stare at the clouds. Love finding shapes in the clouds.

The best way to do it is get out a comfy blanket, turn on some tunes, and lay out on your back. Sunglasses are a plus but not required. It's also a plus to have a friend with you for a fresh persective.
Last night's view sparked a fire in me that hasn't bunred in a while. I was overcome. Suddenly I feel a rush- a need to create. Don't you just love that? That inspiration that fuels your energy, enabling you perhaps to work straight through the night or even all day.
Tomorrow will be day 3 of working on a little piece inspired by last night's scenery.
Here are the photos I took. May they inspire you to do something creative. Let those juices flow.

breath taking no?

I survived Hell Week the 1st Edition

What a week! Rain, thunderstorms, strong winds! As if I needed any other reason to stay in bed all day.
Sadly, such laziness just wasn't an option. Three midterms, lunch dates, parties, & the local bars were calling my name. Begging me to drag myself out of the warmth and coziness of my bed & give my full attention.

The beginning of the week was a dark, cold blur. Cramming for the exams, making myself sick with doubt & anxiety only to find myself practically cart-wheeling out of class! Completely confident in what I had submitted.

On Thursday after a grueling 7 part test, as I was grabbing a drink at the cafe near campus, I ran into my Math teacher. Of course I inquired about my grade from Monday's exam & to my great surprise she congratulated me on receiving one of the top scores in the class! (Naturally, I was smiling ear to ear in class today :D)
When I got back home, Catey & her girlfriend Crystal came by to swoop me up for a delectable lunch at The Oinkster
A gruyère cheeseburger (and piggy fries to go). Crystal's adorable little sister also joined us for lunch. Isn't she precious?!?! She loves counting to three & touching Nala's nose. ♥ ♥ ♥
As the sun began to set Rene & BB made their way over to my house on the hill. The Jersey Shore finale was a snoozefest. The cast looked like they were ready for the season to be OVER. Likewise, in a sense, so were we.
We stepped out to The Little Cave for drinks, good music, & free tacos! The taco guy was agro but the bartender was generous ;D

Needless to say I wasn't so feeling so hot at brunch with my friend Jane the next day. We ventured out of North East LA to Silver Lake for a scrumptious meal at Square One Dining (conveniently located near my school!)

The food was great, the service was speedy (no line!!), but mostly I enjoyed catching up with my pal. The two of us hadn't gotten together in what seemed like an eternity! Every single time we hang out I'm overcome with laughter. She's just so funny! And real! And I really hope we don't let a long time go by before we get together again.

Later that night I found myself drunk with joy & a house full of friends.

Saturday morning Felissa bribed me out of bed with a promise of brunch & we moseyed on over to Arcadia.
Felissa got a Brazilian blow-out & I flipped through an endless stack of gossip magazines.
2hrs later we were ready to go! Felissa's hair was looking fly & I was all caught up on the strange world of Brangelina. My patience paid off :D Brunch at Auntie Em's Kitchen was absolutely positively out of this world yummy. Like always.

After the food settled & we regained our strength, Felissa & I went over to Jason & Keely's to see Velasquez beat the crap put of Lesnar. Such a quick fight! T K O
Finally, on Sunday, I got the lazy day I had been craving all week. Stayed in bed well past noon. Gabbed on the phone & caught up on my fave tv shows. Eventually though, my cave of a bedroom got boring. There's only so much Hulu I can take! Laundry turned into deciding to completely rearrange my entire wardrobe. 2 loads later and my entire closet of treasures was sprawled all over my bed. Do I break it down by colors? Do I divide the colors into sub catergories of like items? I kind of got lost & gave up. In the end I folded everything back up, hung everything back up, put it all away. Leaving the closet & dresser drawers looking only slightly neater than when I had started.....waste of time....

Until next time, I'll leave you with a drunken picture from last week. The shot is completely off centre. I can't tell who was leaning like the tower of Pisa, Rene (the photog) or me. Looks like I didn't do too great on focusing my eyes on the camera either. Ahahahha

witchy weather = weekend bender

The weather in LA has been cold and rainy recently. The grey skies fit so perfectly with the season don't you think? One of my favorite parts of this time of the year is the weather. The air is so crisp and fresh. Makes me want to stay under the covers and cuddle with Muffin and Nala all day and warm up with booze and a bonfire at night.

Our gardeners come on Saturdays and I just love having the fallen leaves in the yard and on the walkway all week. Crunch crunch crunch. Love the sound/feeling of the leaves being smashed under my feet.
Muffin loves playing in the little graveyard I set up in the front yard

Friday afternoon I had the pleasure of grabbing a bite to eat with my good friend Catey at Auntie Em's Kitchen down the street.
Their food is always so satisfying and tasty. The curry pumpkin soup and pumpkin/tomato white lasagna had me thinking about my own pumpkins at home.
My howling wolves pumpkin has already rotted D: It's going out with the trash tomorrow morning. Earlier this week I made it over to Figueroa Produce and scooped up a couple of those organic pumpkins from the South Central Farmers. I'll be sure to post pictures when they're ready to be put out on the porch, promise.

The cloudy, chilly weather and the stresses of my upcoming midterms had me resorting to the 2 following activities:
Part 1. Curling up in bed w/ horror movies and catching up on TV
Part 2. Being a booze hound with my friends
Both activities manage to keep me warm and entertained all at once. Indulging in part 1 allowed me to catch Elvira's Movie Macabre. This week she featured The Brain That Wouldn't Die the twisted tale of a man's inability to let go of a loved one and her ultimate revenge. Of course Elvira's cheeky quips are gut busting throughout the film. Perfect tits AND comedic timing? She's got it all.
Part 2 Was technically divided into 3 rounds. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Typical.
Round 1, Friday night was spent hitting up a few local spots with friends. First dinner at a Mexican restaurant down the street with Eryc & Felissa. Really great dinner plates for under $5. Love.
Next, Felissa and I grabbed some drinks and joined some friends at Jason and Keely's place where we had the distinct pleasure of meeting their little man, Chuy.

The lot of us stepped out to Footsie's and later to Black Boar where I enjoyed some spooky decorations and organic German wheat beer. Fantastic!
 bloooody braaaiiiinsss!

stooges

Round 2, Saturday was a little crazier. Eryc, Rene & I went to Little Foot's house party in East LA. To say we were buzzed when we showed up would be an understatement. Let's just say the night ended around 4am with Rene and I practically carrying Eryc to bed.
The next day we all woke up feeling less than amazing.
We decided to take it easy for a bit and escape the rain clouds in a movie theatre. We watched Jackass 3 which is about as funny as 1hr40 minutes of fart and dick jokes can be....

back patio view

Round 3 began late Sunday evening when Eryc and I decided to celebrate the fact that he had Monday off and the reopening of one of our favorite shops in Lincoln Heights, Cloud 9!

After such a wild weekend you'd think we'd be eager to take a night of for recuperation. That's where you're wrong. Rene and Christian came over this evening and the 4 of us made dinner and put Rene's new vaporizer, Teddybear, to good use.
